钟子期摸着自己的胸脯，坚定地说：“我虽不懂音律，但是我愿意做你的知音，用心去听你的琴声。”

于是，伯牙和钟子期成为了好友，每次伯牙弹琴，钟子期都会来倾听。但是，当钟子期去世后，伯牙便再也不弹琴了，因为他觉得再也没有人能听懂他的琴音了。

Boya played the qin, and Zhong Ziqi came to listen. The sound of the qin was melodious, and Zhong Ziqi was deeply moved. Bo Ya wept bitterly and expressed his emotions: 'Although I have the qin, I have no one to understand it. The sound of the qin cannot express my feelings.'

Zhong Ziqi touched his chest and said firmly: 'Although I don't understand music, I'm willing to be your confidant and listen to your qin with all my heart.'

So, Bo Ya and Zhong Ziqi became friends. Every time Bo Ya played the qin, Zhong Ziqi came to listen. But when Zhong Ziqi died, Bo Ya never played the qin again, because he felt that no one could understand his music anymore.
